1. Unique Needs: By changing the types of materials used, increasing the number of layers, decreasing the number of layers, adding argon gas to the captive air space, or adding various tints, the glass can be made to meet the unique needs of its users.
2. Solar Heat Gain: As the sun hits your window, it absorbs heat gain, which is measured in terms of SHGC. Low-E glass combined with the use of tints can also be used to control solar heat gain. In fact, Low-E glass is one of the best ways to improve SHGC without compromising visible light transmittance. SHGC is expressed as a number between 0 and 1. The lower the SHGC, the better.
3. Comfort Level: Last, but certainly not least, is comfort. Low-E glass has the ability to keep the temperature of the inside surface of the glass near room temperature, thus improving comfort.
