Stand Up for Construction Safety with OSHA and ArchWin
For a third week in a row, we’re here to talk about safety. First it was your safety, then it was your windows’ safety, and now it’s our safety. This week, May 2-6, is OSHA’s third annual National Safety Stand-Down — an event focused on bringing awareness to the dangers of construction safety, site falls, the dangers therein, and ways to prevent falls. Stand up for construction safety by standing down with us as we explore window installation safety and this week’s event.
Window Installation Construction Safety
Last year, 337 of 874 construction deaths were direct results of on-site falls. We don’t want to contribute to that number. When working on exterior finishing projects, there are plenty of fall hazards that could get in our way. As part of our efforts to maintain best construction safety practices, we’re extremely aware and cautious when using aerial lifts, ladders, and scaffolds. We’re also always sure to wear proper gear and keep our work area clean and organized to avoid slip or fall hazards.
OSHA’s Construction Safety Stand-Down Goals for 2016
Last year OSHA reached over 2.5 million construction workers, and this year they’re attempting to double that. By educating over 5 million workers, they’ll have reached over half of the construction workers in the U.S. If you feel so inclined, you can learn more about the event and other construction safety practices on their homepage.
As part of our continued commitment to bringing you the best replacement windows around, it’s important that we stay safe as we provide them. Safety is critical in every job we do, because we can’t wait to get started on the next one.
Last but not least, in the name of fall prevention, we highly advise against attempting window installation on your own. We’re armed with the skills, tools, and knowledge to do so safely. If you’d like help with your window installation project, please give us a call.
